Beginners Quilt
These are held once a month every 3rd Wed and every 3rd Sat of the month.
Bring your own project or let us help choose one, feel free to come in to the store and chose your materials and any equipment you may need before the class.
We get you started on your project and give ongoing help throughout to completion.
$20 per day plus materials

Friends of the Barn Koha Quilt Group
The Friends of the Barn group makes Koha quilts for charititable organisations and those in need.
Fabrics are donated by generous quilters, thereby helping to reduce an out of control stash!
Women’s Refuge, Foster NZ, Hospice and Birthright are just some of the recipients of the quilts made by this group.
Friends of the Barn meet on the 1st Wed of the month, new members are always welcome.
Tuesday Group
Meets every Tuesday to sew and socialise, new members welcome.
Wednesday Group
Meets every 2nd Wed of the month to sew and socialise, new members welcome.
Friday Knitters
Meets weekly- new members welcome.

Join us for a fun, cheeky stripper bag workshop to turn your strips into a stylish, practical bag.
This is a good beginners class using the quilt as you go technique.

Learn to Sew
May 23rd and 24th 10am - 4pm
Learn how to use a pattern, cut out, and sew a little girl's dress.
Workshop Fee $80 Including pattern, but not materials.
Participants will need their own sewing machine.
Not Your Gran's Sewing Group
Every 2nd Wed of the month - 10am - 4pm Starting March 11th, April 8th, May 13th, June 10th
Not Your Gran’s Sewing Group is a bold, modern twist on the traditional stitch-and-chat circles of yesteryear. This isn’t a space for dainty doilies or polite tea talk—it's where creativity meets rebellion, and needles punch through fabric with purpose.
The vibe is more DIY basement than lace-trimmed parlour, and that’s exactly the point.
It’s a regular garment sewing group who meet regularly to sew clothing, often sharing tips, patterns, and encouragement.

Clare, your tutor will show you all the basics and how to make the best use of your machine.

Learn a new spin on curved piecing. This exciting new technique makes curved piecing fun!

Make a modern simple small quilt for the new baby in the family, or a lap quilt.
A good quilt for beginners.

Make Your Own Clothes
1st Sunday of the month - First workshop March 8th 10am - 4pm, April 5th, May 3rd, June 7th
An introduction to sewing clothes (making new ones or altering/mending)
This is a monthly workshop and is on the 1st Sunday of the month.
You will need your own sewing machine.
