Friends of the Barn Koha Quilt Group

The Friends of the Barn group makes Koha quilts for charititable organisations and those in need.

Fabrics are donated by generous quilters, thereby helping to reduce an out of control stash!

Women’s Refuge, Foster NZ, Hospice and Birthright are just some of the recipients of the quilts made by this group.

 Friends of the Barn meet on the 1st Wed of the month, new members are always welcome.

Tuesday Group

Meets every Tuesday to sew and socialise, new members welcome.

Wednesday Group 

Meets every 2nd Wed of the month to sew and socialise, new members welcome.

Friday Knitters

Meets weekly- new members welcome.

Learn how to use a pattern, cut out, and sew a little reversible bag.

Workshop 10:00am to 4:00pm. Fee $30.00 Including pattern, but not materials.

Make a modern simple small quilt for the new baby in the family, or a lap quilt.

A good quilt for beginners. Size approx. 1.2mx1.2m

2 days Workshop 10:00am-4:00pm.  Fee $60 plus materials

Best use of your sewing machine

So you’ve got a sewing machine and you’re ready for a new hobby. And now you don’t know what to do with it. You’re not alone in this-it’s pretty common to be intimidated by that machine. There are a lot of parts, a lot of sewing terms to try to understand, and it can all be overwhelming to learn about.

Pick up lots of hints and tips. 

10am - 4pm, Class Fee $20.00

We will show you how to use them making a Cowl.

Basics of Free Motion Quilting

This class is suitable for beginners wanting to learn about

machine quilting basics, all over quilting,

background fillers, borders and sashings,

custom quilted blocks and

quilting on applique blocks.

All you need is a machine that can drop the feed dogs.

There is a ruler foot lurking in the cupboard and you want to use it, but need some expert advice.

Our tutor will show you how.

You will need a ruler foot that fits your machine, any rulers that you have,

And of course your Thinking cap????
